The first witness in Hunter Biden’s trial is an FBI agent who was portrayed in an HBO show
In Hunter Biden’s federal gun case, prosecutors have called their first witness: FBI agent Erika Jensen.
This trial marks the first instance of a criminal case against the child of a sitting president in U.S. history. Hunter Biden faces three felonies related to a form he completed to purchase a gun in 2018, which included a question about drug addiction. He has entered a plea of not guilty.
Taking the stand on Tuesday morning, Jensen began her testimony following opening arguments from both legal teams. She initiated her testimony by presenting excerpts from Biden’s memoir, “Beautiful Things.” Additionally, prosecutor Derek Hines announced that Hallie Biden, the widow of Hunter Biden’s late brother, Beau Biden, and Zoe Kestan, Hunter Biden’s former girlfriend, will also testify. Hallie Biden and Hunter Biden were involved in a relationship following Beau Biden’s passing.
Here’s an overview of the prosecution’s first witness:
Who is Erika Jensen?
Erika Jensen is an FBI agent with 20 years of service. She was assigned to Biden’s case in the fall of 2023, as reported by NBC News.
Jensen is also the focus of an HBO limited series created by “The Wire” creator David Simon, titled “We Own This City.” She spearheaded an investigation into the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force, resulting in the conviction of eight officers on charges including racketeering, robbery, extortion, and overtime fraud, according to NBC affiliate WBFF.
In Biden’s trial, Jensen is expected to provide insights into the broader investigation involving Biden. This includes presenting evidence such as messages exchanged in 2018, bank statements, and the audiobook excerpts already heard by the jury.
