Researchers Say Specific Amino Acid Combo May Protect Against Dementia

A specific combination of essential amino acids can help protect against the development of dementia, according to a new study of Japanese researchers with the National Institute of Quantum Sciences and Technology. The key to research is the protein and role it plays in brain health, among others, with researchers noting that low protein regimes have accelerated the rate of brain degeneration in mice.

The study involves an additional supplement Amino LP7, which contains seven essential amino acids. The researchers previously studied the supplement, noting that he offered an improvement in the cognitive function. This last study was aimed if the same specific combination of amino acids can provide protection against the development of dementia in old age.

One of the scientists leaders of the study, Dr. Makoto Higuchi, explains that the study involved laboratory mice, first establishing a low protein diet in Alzheimer’s models. revealed poorer neuronal connectivity and faster brain degeneration. The mice received the amino acid supplement, which researchers say reverses problems. Additional research has shown that the LP7 reduces brain degeneration by removing the neuronal death rate.

The improvements have been observed despite the continuous presence of tau plates in the brain, indicating that it is possible to help protect the brain from degeneration, regardless of. Among other things, scientists have found that these amino acids have reduced cerebral inflammation and prevent an inflammatory compound called Kynurenin to enter the brain.
